Napalmia.

So, for the sake of orientation, I decided to move the SimCity 4 development to a second blog at napalmiaislands.blogspot.com
Why couldn't I pick napalmia.blogspot.com? Well, see for yourself. Or let me tell you: because in 2004 some french dickhead decided to create a blog on napalmia.blogspot.com and post once. And not post somethingn deep and meaningful, but post "rrrrrrueeiisdjjfkfk". Yeah blogspot, that sounds like something worth preserving. Seriously? Why not delete blogs that are eight years old and completely inactive, you bunch of cocks? No wonder it was so hard to find a fitting title for this blog, if every blogspot-title since the beginning of time is still blocked by inactive blogs.

Fuck that!

That's right!

Forget everything about that Faraway place; once I started building, I got a bad case of prop pox and it went fuckall, so I started over.

And man, did I. I'm witholding a region shot so far, because everything's a little unfinished. The landscaping is 98% done, but there are some canals and highways just ending at city limits and that looks weird.
Talking about canals. I decided to try something out and this is what I came up with:

That's a view of the downtown area of "Napalmia", the city that the region is named after and that's gonna be the biggest one eventually. These canals are no canal sets, they are actual ingame, Maxis water with seawalls around them. It was a bitch to get them to the right depth and without any bumps, the shoreline being completely even. A lot of road tiles were plopped.
Another area I already worked out before doing any actual growth or anything is this RHW interchange one tile south of the one in the above picture, still belonging to what's gonna be Napalmia:

Oh god it took a lot of time and a lot of tries. It's two RHW-6 in a T-Interchange. I solved the problem of the two MIS lanes having to cross from the ending highway to deliver to the passing one with a roundabout that's cropped at the very bottom of the image. It was the least complicated way that still eliminated the need for traffic lights and left turns. Also obviousely did some cosmetics to kinda see how it all works out. It'll look at lot different once all the development around it gets going though.

And to offset all this civil engineering, here's a nice shot of the countryside in "Densehigh", with a nice bridge/tunnel thing going on as well:

Ahhh. And now I should seriousely get some sleep, I got an appointment at the unemployment office early tomorrow. Not being unemployed, it's gonna be a weird ride anyway.

Faraway.

Remember what I said about SimCity in that first post that nobody read anyway?

Well I started getting to work on a new region, fittingly called "Mercury" and this is where the first settlements are going to pop into existence:

That's a place called "Faraway", where a railroad passes along the windy hills and through the dense woods of the county. The road network is about 70% done and once I finish it, I'll start putting the first villages together. The tile is a quad and it's supposed to wind up with about 4000-5000 inhabitants split up into about 6-8 smaller communities.

Delay? Delay.

Has that mysterious offer paid yet? No.
I found out via eMail that I can still apply for the start of that pop music degree and that really got me motivated. The course is aimed at musicians, teaches all these neat things and at the end of all of it you'll have a Bachelor of Arts. Not the worst way to spend some years I figure, I'm already working on my application.
The university is in Osnabrück, which is about 200 klicks away from here. Yes, I said that military thing everybody says since CoD 4.
And so in case I get accepted I'll be placed staring down the barrel of a mean situation. It's not so far that getting back here for a weekend or so is impossible or hugely impractical, but it isn't around the corner either and every venture has its price. But maybe that's not only a downside, really. Maybe getting out of a comfort zone and getting on down the way requires some sacrifices.

On a completely unrelated but equally as important note, what the fuck happened to 9GAG? It was awesome half a year ago and then it hit facebo- ... right, that's what happened.

This offer reports on a 30 minute delay.

And as a 30 minute delay starts looking more and more like 90 minutes, I keep searching for something meaningful to do in my future. I stumbled across a pretty promising university that offers quite a lot of musical and creativity-centered degrees, one of them's about Pop Music and teaches self-marketing, stage appearance, instrument and vocal training, producing and whatnot. Applications are already locked for this year's course but I think I'll keep tabs on that thing. Sounds hot.
What's also hot is the sun and what the sun is, too, is shining, currently. Weather is pretty badass, if it weren't for the fact that I'll head for work in about an hour this would be a great day. But it's spring and I don't know why, but spring always gets the better of me. I feel sad, unmotivated, I start dwelling in the past and recounting all the steps where I'd gone wrong somewhere down the line. It happens every single spring and it's a total bitch. Weather's nice, the sun's shining and I wonder how things would look now had everything happened a little differently, eventhough, as I mentioned before, my life is actually pretty sweet at the moment. Springtime plunges me into that hole every year around.
Then summer will come and it'll be all over, for then. Summer rocks. Then fall comes and it gets like this again. The reminiscence, the regrets.

Hm, let's check...

Nope, 100 minutes delay it will be.

This is not an ordinary high.

So, hey. My long way to blog creation finally ends as I find a song title from my music dump that does not happen to be taken already. And man, did I try a shitload of titles.
Anyway, I don't even know. I guess I'll just keep updating this whenever I see fit and have some material stocked up to unload. I'm a musician, both live and producing. You might wanna check out www.cityglowing.com for my bands homepage, we got a couple of songs ready and up with a lot more pending and you can catch a glimpse of us live on, well, "stage". Yeah, we're struggling, but we're struggling in style.
If you like us we're always glad to hear that, both on here and on our homepage although you might have to navigate through a flood of spambots on our feedback page. It's quite a bitch, but the internet has its own rules, eh?

This blog won't only be about the band, actually its mostly supposed to be about myself. It's just that, well, it's ordinary. I obviously enjoy the fuck out of music. A quick look at my music folder:

God damn it's nasty to work with pictures on blogger. In essence, that will go down from FC Kahuna to Zombie Nation and it's a long way down there. I'll probably keep this blog going with lots of music-related content and I'm always excited to find new bands and artists and shit, so suggestions are welcome!

Another thing the fuck out of which I enjoy is SimCity. SimCity 3K Unlimited was, next to The Settlers II the first PC game I ever touched and I still love that shit. I've since moved on to SimCity 4 because of the sheer number of possibilities you get with DLC. That'll probably be another recurring theme here, whenever I got something to show off you will see it. You will.

Eh. I work as a checker at a supermarket, got done with school last year and am shit out of ideas where to head in the future. Drifter alert! I hope that I won't lose touch of my band, the music I make and everything as it is at the moment. 'Cause that's pretty sweet.

Until then,
Mercury summer,
in the afternoon, I hope you'll come back soon.
So just take your time,
I hope to see you.
